“UNITED NATIONS - The United Nations chief warned the world Monday that "humanity is just one misunderstanding, one miscalculation away from nuclear annihilation."
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres gave the dire warning at the opening of the long-delayed high-level meeting to review the landmark 50-year-old treaty aimed at preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and eventually achieving a nuclear-free world. He cited especially the war in Ukraine and the threat of nuclear weapons to conflicts in the Middle East and Asia, two regions "edging towards catastrophe."
Guterres told many ministers, officials and diplomats attending the month-long conference to review the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty that the meeting is taking place "at a critical juncture for our collective peace and security" and "at a time of nuclear danger not seen since the height of the Cold War."[i]
If the fear mongers peddling their trade wasn’t enough to scare you to death with COVID and Climate Change, and the war mongers have not killed enough innocents in Ukraine and elsewhere, Mr. Guterres announces that the world is one step from 'nuclear annihilation' .
I have updated the phrase "The sky is falling!"
I am calling it Sky Falling Syndrome, a new idiom indicating a hysterical or mistaken belief that disaster is imminent and calling it SFS. SFS comes from the character in nursery tales (also known as Chicken Little) who, when struck on the head by an object from above, panics and believes that the sky is falling.
Giving it the name SFS will assist the Twitter universe loons that will no doubt propagate more paranoia and mass hysteria following Mr. Guterres comments because it is as if we do not have enough of that already.
I also have suggested the appearance of another nursery tale creature, The Bogeyman (also spelled boogieman, bogyman, bogeyman, boogie monster, boogieman) is a mythic creature used by adults to frighten children into good behavior.
It is as if climate change and COVID were not scary enough, it needed to be rounded out by the prospect of nuclear disaster as a specific personification or metonym for the end of the world.
The rhetoric of the Secretary General will no doubt expand SFS and will be viewed by the Chicken Littles of the world as the newest Bogeyperson on the international scene.
So, it would appear for the moment that if the pandemic doesn’t kill you in the short term, climate change doesn’t kill you in the long term surely nuclear war can at any moment.
And what of the impact on the lives of the millions of Chicken Littles that are being bombarded everyday by the media and government aka the Bogeymen – or in the language of the Woke Bogeypersons?
I suspect that many more of them will be retreating to their basements.

Since then 66 years have passed and no other stamp has been issued by the post office to observe or signify any similar sentiments. It reflects a country that has lost its way on so many levels.
While collecting stamps is an almost dead hobby it does however reflect the history of a country. They are actually tiny legal propaganda leaflets that grace the envelope and spread the word of the government of the country.
Today Canada's leftist Liberal minority government is hell bent on passing legislation that will put an end to a free press and freedom of expression that is not in line with the elite woke and frankly neo authoritarian leadership. Our opinion piece on Bill C-63 here on Locals and on X has been published reflecting our deep concern for our state of affairs.

In a free country with a free press people are allowed to say what's on their mind regardless of the actual value of their opinions to others. In Canada that means that if you disparage the governments policies or the oppositions alternative policies, you can do so at this moment in time.
However the current MINORITY government and the operative word is MINORITY is looking for legislative ways to curtail such freedoms by passing Bill C-63 that will only permit speech and expression that its Liberal Party leadership and adherents support.
This weekend the X platform has been flooded with a well coordinated anti opposition and anti Poilievre posting flood many of which are clearly bots. Most spread negative comments and a goodly amount of lies about any and all things associated with the opposition party or its leadership.
Under the current law of the land this is permitted and so it should be. As disgusting and filthy as political smut is, its the cost of a functioning democracy. ...
